Premier League Predictions 2024/25

Published on 9 October 2024 at 20:33

As the Premier League kicks off after an epic summer of sport, here is my Premier League Winner and top five prediction as the 2024/25 Season starts.

1.Winner- Arsenal

Its hard to chose this years winner in my opinion, but after Arsenal loosing it on the last day and being runner-up for a consecutive season,  i think they will have the motivation to go all the way this year, especially with the additions of Sterling, Calafiori and Merino it gives the players some fresh competition, and motivation to keep their position if they are starters and to gain their position if they are bench/squad players, and with the likes of Havertz and Saka starting the reason so brighly with Gabriel and Saliba having the defence on lock down, conceding only 3 goals so far and with how well Arteta and the players have coped with injuries to captain Ødegaard and new signing Merino early on I think they will go all the way and win it this year.

2.Runner Up- Manchester City

I think this years season will be a very competition, high quality one, but after watching match day 5 and seeing how well Arsenal kept City  out for a full half with 10 men has made me think, how well Arsenal are defensively,   and how when City have to play without Rodri they didn't  really have a plan  or a player to get Peps attacks going from midfield , creating just 1.40 XG and 3 total in the second half. Another reason i think Man City will come runners up is Rodri   will  be out for the season with an ACL  Pep Guardiola confirms, and that will be a major blow for them with Rodri who not only was defensively solid he was the man to start City's attack and chipped in with goals, being the best CDM in football, Ballon d'or candidate  and Euro 2024 winner , in my opinion it is going to take man city some time  adjusting in the  midfield and in not sure they will have the time this season, whereas Arsenal seem to be very cohesive and fluid from the get go. I do however think Man City have a really strong chance at winning the Champions League and will arguably focus on that more.

3.- Liverpool

With Liverpool experiencing a lot of change over the summer, its easy to write their  season off and say Slott and the players need the season to adapt, but having started the season so well scoring 10 and conceding only 1 goal they seem to be a team who look reenergised, motivated and they seem to have taken quickly to Slotts more possession, passing based system. I think Liverpool will keep up with the top 2 teams for the majority of the season but i think Man City and Arsenal will finish above them because one injury to Vvd, Salah or Mac allister in my opinion and they will see a drop of, and we haven't seen Slotts system against a top team so there is still some questions Liverpool need to answer but in my opinion they have started the season very sharply and will finish 3rd comfortably.

4- Chelsea

This might be a controversial take but with how fluid Maresca has them playing compared to last season and how well the likes of Palmer, Sancho, Caicedo and even Sanchez is playing i think they can secure 4th place. Chelsea are playing Europa Conference League football and have a full second squad for that competition so with the players getting rest and being rotated more regularly i think they will have what it takes. Conceding only 6 goals so far and scoring 11 (6 in 1 game V Wolves) you can see Maresca's possession/build up based style which involves high pressing to regain possession seems to be rubbing of on the squad.

5- Aston Villa

Aston Villa under Emery has been a force to be reckoned with, taking over the club when they were in a relegation battle, to securing champions league an top 4 last season, i think their journey has been amazing and its not over yet. Having players like Martinez at gk, Watkins and Duran up front, new signing Onana and Matsen at the back they are a solid, intelligent team with a very intelligent manager who likes to play a compact 4231 and can play several ways, like counter attacking or sitting of in a mid/low block. I think Aston Villa has the quality within the team and manager to secure 5th place with other teams around them like Spurs and Man Utd having not so good a start to the season.
